Creative Liberation Sanctuary began as a quiet dream beside the Dauis shoreline: a place where exhausted adults could set down perfectionism, pick up paint, words, and sound, and remember that play is serious soul-care.

It is a response to the way adults become overworked, over-managed, self-conscious, disconnected from play, and convinced creativity is only for talented people, children, or professionals.

Creativity is not a performance. It is a human birthright.

Core Values and Philosophy

1. Play over performance

People can try things without needing to be good.

2. Process over product

The experience matters more than the outcome.

3. Creative safety

No shaming, no forced sharing, no hierarchy of “talented” versus “not talented.”

4. Nervous system awareness

The space should feel grounding, soft, and spacious.

5. Choice and consent

People can join a class, sit quietly, draw alone, talk, not talk, watch, listen, or rest.

6. Local-rooted creativity

CLS should honor Bohol, family, local artists, the compound, the ocean, the stepfather’s art, and the mother’s coaching work. It should not simply import a generic Western retreat model.

7. Beauty as nourishment

The ocean, garden, art, café, materials, light, and atmosphere should make people feel more alive.
