UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENINGS & WAYS OF LOOKING

Book Clubs

Read slowly. Think together. Leave with more questions than you arrived with.

CLS Book Clubs are small, welcoming gatherings for readers who want thoughtful conversation without having to perform intelligence or arrive with the “right” interpretation. Depending on the session, we may gather around a novel, poetry collection, essay, or short text shared in advance.

You are welcome to speak, listen, bring notes, arrive unfinished, or pass on any question. The host offers gentle prompts and keeps the conversation spacious; no one is tested, corrected, or required to disclose something personal.

Slow Looking in the Gallery

Spend longer with one artwork than the internet usually allows.

Slow Looking is a quiet, guided gathering around one or a few works in the gallery. We begin with time to look before reaching for explanation. The host may invite you to notice color, texture, scale, mood, memory, or what changes when you stay a little longer.

No art-history knowledge is required. You may speak, write, sketch, sit quietly, change position, or simply observe. There is no compulsory interpretation, critique, sharing, or agreement—and the artist’s intention is never treated as a quiz.

Planned experience — featured works, access arrangements, capacity, dates, and final pricing will be announced before booking opens.

Acoustic Music Nights

Small-scale live music, close enough to hear the breath between notes.

Acoustic Music Nights bring local singers and musicians into an intimate listening space for an unhurried evening of songs, stories, and shared attention. The format is intentionally gentler than a loud venue: seated listening, a modest audience, and room to step outside or take a quieter seat when needed.

Some evenings may include a short artist conversation or optional audience reflection. No audience performance, singing along, or personal sharing is required. Performer line-ups, sound format, access information, and refreshments will always be confirmed for each event.

Planned experience — artist agreements, venue capacity, weather fallback, dates, and final pricing will be announced before booking opens.

Open Mic Nights

A small stage for works in progress, first tries, and voices still finding their shape.

Open Mic Nights are intimate, hosted gatherings for songs, poems, stories, short readings, monologues, and other live experiments. Performers sign up for brief slots so the stage stays shared; you are equally welcome to come only to listen.

Performing, speaking, and personal disclosure are never required. The host may pause material that targets or harasses another person or group. Photography and recording happen only with each performer’s clear permission.

Planned experience — performance format, sign-up process, access arrangements, capacity, dates, and final pricing will be announced before booking opens.

Bad Art Night

Come make something awkward, unfinished, ridiculous—or unexpectedly wonderful.

Bad Art Night is a playful studio gathering for anyone tired of waiting to feel talented enough. The host offers strange little prompts, deliberately imperfect materials, and permission to make the lopsided thing, the muddy thing, the thing that makes no sense.

The name is playful: no person or artwork is judged, ranked, mocked, or declared “bad.” You may follow a prompt, ignore it, work privately, start again, keep your piece, recycle it, or leave it unfinished. There is no critique and no pressure to explain what you made.

Planned experience — materials, capacity, dates, and final pricing will be announced before booking opens.

Half-Day Creative Reset Retreat

An airy multi-purpose workshop room inside an ocean-side creative sanctuary, captured in bright photographic realism. The space features whitewashed walls, exposed bamboo beams, and polished concrete floors softened by woven mats in playful pastel tones. Several low easels stand ready, each holding blank canvases flecked with previous color, alongside open cases of oil pastels, watercolors, and brushes in jars. Large open windows reveal lush tropical greenery and a sliver of sparkling sea, rendered in gentle blur. Morning sunlight streams diagonally across the room, creating long, soft-edged shadows and highlighting pigment dust on a central worktable. Framed with a wide, symmetrical composition and sharp depth of field, the mood is spacious, inclusive, and quietly energizing, emphasizing a sense of open, non-gatekept creative exploration.

open play: what happens?

What happens during an ‘Open Play’ session?

We begin with a short arrival and introduction to the materials. In a guided session, our host offers a theme and several possible starting points—you can follow one, combine them or ignore them entirely.

Most of the session is spacious, independent making time. The host is available for practical support and gentle help when you feel stuck, but there is no step-by-step project everyone must complete.

We close with time to notice what emerged. Sharing is always optional.

PAINT FLING WITH YOUR DARLING

Messy, collaborative play for two.

Paint Fling is a playful two-hour experience where you and your darling build one shared artwork through color, movement, soft sponge throws, and delightfully unpredictable marks.

And “darling” doesn’t have to mean a romantic partner. Bring your partner, best friend, sibling, parent, or another favorite person.

Inside a splash-contained creative space, you’ll take turns flinging non-toxic washable paint onto a large shared fabric or canvas target. Gentle prompts are available if you want them, but there is no picture to copy, no artistic skill required, and no pressure to make something polished—or explain what it means.

Your experience includes:

✓ A two-hour guided creative session
✓ A large shared painting surface
✓ Non-toxic washable paint and soft reusable sponge balls
✓ Protective aprons or coveralls and eye protection
✓ Optional creative prompts and gentler mark-making alternatives
✓ All basic materials and studio cleanup

Participants may throw, dab, press, pause, observe, or adapt the activity. Paint is always aimed at the prepared artwork—never at another person. Sharing and photography are optional, and consent can be changed at any time.

Please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little colorful and closed-toe, non-slip shoes.

Paint Fling with Your Darling is currently in development at Creative Liberation Sanctuary in Dauis, Bohol. Pilot dates, final pricing, and reservation details will be announced as the sanctuary takes root.

✓ Mindfulness

A seaside mindfulness-and-music nook of the Creative Liberation Sanctuary, shown in realistic, high-resolution photography. In the foreground, a low bamboo platform is layered with handwoven blankets and cushions in coral, turquoise, and sand tones. Atop rests a collection of small instruments: a tongue drum with matte metallic sheen, a weathered ukulele, chimes, and a simple frame drum, all catching glints of soft sunset light. The platform opens directly toward the beach, where gentle waves and a rocky Dauis shoreline are visible in soft focus. Warm, diffused golden-hour light filters through hanging macramé and palm fronds, casting lace-like shadows. Shot from a low angle toward the horizon, with the instruments crisp and the background dreamily blurred, the atmosphere is playful yet contemplative, inviting wordless, freeing expression.

OPEN PLAY FAq

Do I need art experience?
Not at all. Guided Open Play is designed for beginners, returning creatives and anyone who feels curious but uncertain where to start.

Do we all make the same thing?
No. The theme offers a doorway, not an assignment. Everyone may use different materials and follow a different direction.

Do I have to speak or share my work?
No. Quiet participation is completely welcome, and sharing is always optional.

Are materials included?
Shared basic materials are included. Premium surfaces and unusually consumptive materials may be available for an additional charge.

Is this a workshop?
No. Workshops teach a particular technique or structured project. Guided Open Play offers lighter facilitation and more self-directed making time.

Is this therapy?
No. It is a recreational creative experience. You are welcome to make from your feelings, but no one will interpret, diagnose or require you to discuss them.
