The First Makers Retreat is a planned intimate retreat for writers and makers who want to step out of the rush, return to their own creative attention, and spend time in thoughtful company.
A PLACE TO MAKE
This is not a productivity bootcamp or a promise to become a better version of yourself by the end of a week. It is a space to begin where you are: with a half-finished draft, a question, a sketchbook, a private longing, or no plan at all.
There will be room for making quietly, sharing when it feels right, reading, resting, talking, and letting new work take its own shape.
WHAT THE RETREAT IS MAKING ROOM FOR
• Gentle writing invitations and unhurried time to work
• Space for drawing, collage, visual-making and play
• Shared reading, conversation and creative exchange
• Small moments of attention, rest and connection by the sea
• Possible local outings shaped around the place and the group
• A workshop atmosphere that protects curiosity rather than performance
THE SETTING
The retreat is planned for Dauis, Bohol, Philippines: a place of water, tropical light, slow mornings and room to breathe.
We are developing the practical details with care. Exact dates, accommodation arrangements, inclusions, group size, accessibility information and booking terms will be shared before any places are offered, but it will be an inclusive package of accommodation, food and some transport.

We are looking forward to sharing more about the Writer in Residence when the collaboration is confirmed. Their contribution will be part of the retreat’s invitation into language, reading and creative conversation.
